Melita is a marine biologist, working at the Department of Ecology, Agronomy and Aquaculture at the University of Zadar, Croatia. She has a PhD in Applied Marine Science from the University of Split, and a degree of a preschool teacher. She teaches several subjects on the undergraduate and graduate University programmes, but her greatest love is exploring the wonders of the sea with children. She joined EMSEA in 2015 and coordinates the EMSEA Mediterranean regional group, focusing on promoting the role of Ocean Literacy in creating a sustainable future for the Mediterranean Sea.
