Martha Papathanassiou

EMSEA Avisory Board - conference host 2015

Martha studied Marine Sciences at the University of Southampton and followed by an MA in Communications, at the University of Leeds.  

She worked in the UK as Editorial Coordinator for medical and scientific journals and as Press & Communications Officer for a non-profit making organisation. In recent years, she has been working in Greece as the Communications Officer for EU-funded projects FP6 SESAME & FP7 PERSEUS, coordinated by the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research. She was project assistant in the FP7 Sea for Society and is also a member of the European Marine Board Communications Panel She was part of Horizon 2020 Sea Change project and recently served as Communications Consultant for IOC-UNESCO. In 2018, she founded Indigo-Med Communications, participating in the EU ERAMUS+ Project MATES: Maritime Alliance for Fostering European Blue Economy through a Marine Technology Skilling Strategy and the EASME “MedSkippers” project, responsible for ocean literacy and communication & dissemination activities respectively. She was chair of the organising committee for the 2015 EMSEA Conference in Crete, Greece.
