Bring the Ocean into your School MOOC

Embark on your journey to becoming a European Blue School with the Bring The Ocean into Your School MOOC!

In the past years, the demand for environmental education, particularly with a focus on ocean literacy, has reached unprecedented importance. Acknowledging this need, the EU4Ocean coalition, with the collaboration of Scientix and EUN Academy, has joined forces to launch the Bring The Ocean into Your School MOOC.

This course has been designed with a clear objective: to support teachers and educators in bringing ocean-related topics into their lessons and schools.

The MOOC revolves around encouraging and assisting participants to develop their unique “Find the Blue” project. Participants will learn how to identify ocean topics, develop school projects in collaboration with local partners, and work towards achieving a European Blue School certification. This achievement is the doorway to the Network of European Blue Schools, a dedicated movement focused on shaping informed students who are passionate about protecting and preserving our oceans.

Besides, the course will encourage participants to explore innovative teaching methodologies, such as project-based learning and open-schooling. These approaches will support them in nurturing their students’ connection to the oceans through engaging, innovative lesson plans that are sure to leave a lasting impact.

The MOOC starts on 15 January 2024 and runs for five and a half weeks, with four modules opening one by one each week. Registration is free of charge and participants will receive a digital course certificate and a digital course badge upon completion. The MOOC is open to primary and secondary school teachers and educators from Europe and beyond. The course language is English.
